Of The Malabar
Chamber of Commerce

Since

1929

The Malabar Chamber of Commerce, established in 1929, is in its ninth decade of meaningful existence. It was set on track by stalwarts like A.K.T.K.M. Guptan Nambudiripad and Sait Nagjee Amarsi, and was nourished by presidents like P.P. Hassan Koya, Liladhar N. Mehta, Haji Koyappathodi M. Ahammed Kutty, U.K. Sankunni, and M. A. Unneerikutty. Since its inception, the Chamber has played a pivotal role in the development of trade and industry in Malabar. Over the years, the Chamber has been working tirelessly for the region’s development. Realizing the fact that only sound infrastructure could lead to the integral development of the region, the Chamber has presented numerous suggestions and recommendations to the government. Among these were the establishment of Calicut International Airport, Indian Institute of Management, Konkan Railway, Express Highway, and Inland Waterways.
